Special Price Original Study

ORIGINAL STUDY SMC #340 -12" x 9" x 1.5"

WHAT IS SPECIAL PRICE? It is where I normally offer original studies painted on cradle wood panel and 300lb cotton rag marked at a special price and sometimes ready to ship prints too! Most importantly, they are always in perfect condition! This is my way of exploring my studio practice also to allow myself never to be afraid from trying something new. This can be using new medium, creating and improving the tools I use and giving freedom without knowing any boundaries.

These studies used to take up a huge spot in my studio and very quickly they pile up. I love trying new things and because of it, my studio “used to” have a tradition. Two times a year we would put on a bon fire and slowly burn them to ash as a way of releasing creativity back into the world, to say thank you for all the frustration which allows us to grow. One day my friends came to visit me and decided to stop by my studio. I was definitely overwhelmed with their questions and compliments. One who later found “the pile” which was not neatly organized or tucked away. She said, “These are beautiful! Can I buy them? As she was already holding a hand full of them.” I told her what they were, she responded, “I could really use this creativity in my life, and they are mine now!” This got me thinking, all this time doing this had brought me to tears, because I believed no one could ever like something I felt wasn’t perfect, and my friends could not be the only ones to see them differently! These studies need to be seen by others and that maybe this could bring someone else the courage and creativity to try something new! This is where Special Price all began.

-They are all original studies

-Test prints for current/previous collectors

-Original paintings I painted a while ago may not fit into my current work

-A duplicate but not exactly the same of commission paintings (Sometimes I paint two commission paintings for my clients to pick one)

-Smaller studies for a bigger painting

-They are undamaged + In pristine condition

-Special price means it is way below listing price compared to listings in any collection/series!
